Med-Assist School of Hawaii (MASH) has been around since 1974, giving us 44 years of experience in teaching our students how to become professional, capable and caring healthcare providers. We have graduated over 4,000 Medical Assistants who now have successful careers in the healthcare industry, many of them going on to become registered nurses, medical teachers and even licensed doctors after they graduate. MASH has deep roots in Hawaii's medical community since we opened our doors four decades ago. Our alumni currently work in over 150 doctor's offices, hospitals and private family practices throughout the island. If you have been to the doctor's office recently, you were most likely helped by one of our friendly graduates.
Our Medical Assistant program is nine months long. It is the fastest program on the island and the quickest path to becoming a healthcare professional. We understand that many of our students have other responsibilities such as a day job or raising a family. To accommodate those students, we offer both day and evening classes. The day classes are held from 8:00 am - 2:40 pm Monday through Thursday, and the evening classes are held from 5:00 pm - 9:40 pm Monday through Thursday. What ever your schedule is, we will do what we can to create a class schedule that works for you.
Students who apply to the Medical Assistant program at MASH are eligible to receive Federal Financial Aid in the form of Title IV loans and grants. You simply have to go online and fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may also speak with our financial aid adviser if you need any assistance in filling out the FAFSA. The tuition for our Medical Assisting program is $15,700.00. Depending on how much financial aid you qualify for, you may be eligible to receive up to $15,000.00 from Federal Financial Aid in the form of Title IV loans and grants. If you have any more questions regarding Financial Aid, we would be more than happy to help you. If you happen to be in the military or are a military spouse, we also accept MyCAA and VA.
Other sources of financial assistance are available to students who qualify. MASH offers two scholarships a year. The James Takemoto Scholarship is available to students who demonstrate financial need and exemplify the professional and personal qualities of the late owner of Med-Assist School of Hawaii. The Michael Combs Scholarship is awarded to students who exemplify outstanding community leadership. Organizations such as the Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Community Foundation and Alu Like also offer financial assistance to students who qualify.
